Week 7, Thing 10 & 11 - Compare searching on tagged sites with other sites

I entered the search RDA (i.e. Resource description and Access - RDA will provide a comprehensive set of guidelines and instructions on resource description and access covering all types of content and media)
results:

Del.icio.us (887 hits)
Connotea (22 hits – more academic, less noise, lots of duplication)
CitULike (No. of hits not stated -less hits, more academic, more unrelated articles, all journal articles)
Murdoch Uni. Catalogue (no hits)
Google (1,750,000 hits, way more noise, less academic, needs lots of refining the search)
Dogpile (68 hits, lots of noise, needs refining, less academic)
Zuula (
7,330,000 hits way to broad a search, as for Google)
Kartoo (Not sure of no. of hits – mapped, easier to get rid of unrelated topics – interesting approach, harder to understand)

Simple observations: Interesting, choice/type of topic should determine which search engine to use for best results.

Ran out of time to do thing 11 - not a good week!

Wk. 4 & 5, Play weeks

I have used these last two weeks to stay on top of my RSS feeds and read some interesting articles. I've added a couple of "job relevant" feeds which I'm finding quite interesting. An interesting article about libraries use of facebook is: http://otherlibrarian.wordpress.com/2007/09/10/facebook-and-rapport/
(that was my attempt to link, I hope it worked) I find I don't have the techno background to know how to do all the things I need, the RSS feed reader is not always intuitive, I'd like to be able to delete somethings after I've looked at them 'cos they always seem to stay in the lists which are getting bigger & bigger
